Sem. 2 week 5: Story Boarding/Mood Board

Bolt Tutorial:

This session, I started working on an online tutorial to create a 3D model of the Disney Pixar character "Bolt". The two tutorials for creating him are on the following links:

3D Model: http://www.escalight.com/tutorials/3dsmax-tutorials/dog-modeling-tutorial-part-1.html

Fur and Hair: http://www.escalight.com/tutorials/3dsmax-tutorials/animal-fur-using-3ds-max-part-1.html

Mood Board:

Over the last few weeks I have been having second thoughts about my choice of TV Channel. I believe my original choice of "Animal Planet" may prove to be a little too challenging for me. This is because I have very little experience in modelling animals in 3D studio Max and believe that I need more practice. I am also finding it difficult to come up with ideas for the "Animal Planet" channel.

So, I have changed my mind and will be doing my 3 Idents on the "Discovery Science" channel.

Idea 1:

The main Idea I have for the "Discovery Science" Ident is of the planets in the solar system revolving around the sun and the channel name fades into the foreground.

Idea 2:

Another idea I had recently was of a Star going Supernova and, as before, after the explosion of the star then the channel name (Discovery Science) fades into view.

Idea 3:

The final idea I had is based on a Documentary I saw a while ago on the planets detailing the birth of the earth and moon where another, smaller planets collides with the earth, the earth surviving and the moon being created from the debris of the other planet.

Sem. 2 Week 4: Reactor Tutorial

Reactor Tutorial:

During this week the class was given a quick tutorial on how to create an animation using the reactor function to best simulate the specific Reaction of an animated object.

Sem. 2 week 3: Morphing an Object

During the session for this week the class were shown how to morph an object and then animate the object showing how what morphs are applied to the object as it changes into its "morphed" state.

Sem. 2 week 2: Animating Splines and Channel Mood Board

This week the lecturer went through with us how to create simple spline animations. We learned how to attach an object like a box to a line and to make follow the line in animation and, using a camera, follow a line in a virtual environment resembling a rollercoaster of sorts.

Mood Board:

The Channels that I have in mind for the Idents at the moment are 'Channel 5" and "Animal Planet". I may lean more towards "Animal Planet".

The target audience for "Animal Planet" would be nature lovers, pet owners and possibly environmentalists. Some students may also watch the channel as well for the nature documentaries if they were studying Ecology.

The target audience for "Channel 5" would probably be a larger variation of viewers than "animal Planet" due to the multiple different shows based on different topics. The main audience would be movie fanatics seeing as there are all types of movies shown on "Channel 5", ranging from

Idea 1:

One of the ideas I have for "Animal Planet" is of a camera following along a Gazelle from the viewpoint of a lioness (I will probably use a spline tween to do this). The camera will continue following the Gazelle and will stop to show the animal planet logo.
